The powerful of love
---Review of the Les Miserables
Les Miserables was written by Victor Hugo, a French writer, and became one of the most famous novels in the nineteenth century after published in 1842. The French are familiar with this novel like Chinese on The Three Kingdoms. Because it covers the Napoleonic wars and after more than ten years' time, describes the people in this period of different destiny, reflects the then social contradictions and praising the many human innocence and kind, also the whip ruling class ugly.
I don’t very interested in the politics, so I was just interested in the plot, especially the leading actor Vaijean’s story. Poor Vaijean just to stole a few pieces of bread to his hunger nephew, but he was captured and sentenced to prison nineteen years. After suffering the prison’s miserable torture, he decided to be evil not to be good any more. However, the good bishop saved he, even though Vaijean stole the bishop’s silver. The bishop’s behave let Vaijean feel warm and love, which he believed without it in this world before. So he changed his mind to be evil, even prison existence of suffering still remember and evil seems in the ear.
With the good bishop’s word to be a good man, Vaijean spend the rest of his life on helping others. He helped the worker Fang Ting and treated Fang Ting’s daughter as his own daughter. He even saved his enemy Sha Wei, who never give up capturing him to back prison. He believed there is one who loves him in the world, no matter how guilty he has been. The love likes the good bishop’s selfless love, so selfless that without any repay. And this selfless love saved the man to regain the nature of goodness, and then pass this love to other people.
Love is the most powerful tool to help others, but the severe laws like the devils make people loss many things. Thus, the government should love his people rather than relay on the severe laws to rule people.
