On May 6th, 2020, a 30-member Chinese survey team started the project to measure the height of Qomolangma (珠穆朗玛峰). Actually it has been measured by many countries. In 1856, a British survey team measured the height of Qomolangma. Their result showed that Qomolangma reached a height of 8,840 meters above sea level. In 1955, the figure (数据) was rewritten by an Indian team to 8,848 meters, and later to 8,850 meters according to a US team in 1999. And in 2005, a Chinese team got a height of 8,844 meters.
It is not an easy task to measure the height of Qomolangma. The average air temperature on the mountain is -29 °C and powerful winds blow all the time. In such extreme conditions, surveying drones (无人机) cannot work at the top of the mountain. That's why it's still necessary to send human experts to the top to get exact results.
Measuring the height of Qomolangma is much more than just getting an exact number. Lying at the place where the Eurasian Plate (板块) meets the Indian Plate, Mount Qomolangma formed 38 million years ago as a result of the two plates hitting, which makes it the perfect window for studying crustal (地壳的) movements. Changes to the mountain's height can suggest whether the two plates are heading toward or away from each other.
The survey team will also get firsthand information about the condition of the snow and other natural materials at the top, which could be a sign of climate change on the Tibet-Qinghai Plateau (青藏高原) . 44.The latest height of Qomolangma is _________ meters in the passage. A.8,840
B.8,848
C.8,850
D.8,844

Money can’t buy happiness, right? Well, not true. According to a recent article in The Wall Street Journal(华尔街日报), over the past few years, new research has given us a much deeper understanding of the relationship(关系) between what we earn and how we feel. The research may show us the result: Yes, people who earn more money, generally speaking, are happier than those who earn little. But the research also shows that you have to spend your money properly if you expect it to bring you happiness. Here are some suggestions for you to spend your money in a better way:
Buy experiences, not material goods.
In a recent study, Ryan Howell, a professor from San Francisco State University in the US, found that when people didn’t have enough money to enjoy a trip, they preferred to buy some material goods. But travelling with your family or friends may bring you more happiness and the wonderful memory of the travel experience will stay in your mind for many years.
Buy lots of little things, rather than one big thing.
No matter how much money you spend on something and how special that product is, you will get used to having it over time and it will become just another object. People like having new things, but the happiness it brings to you will soon disappear. Buying small things can give us small pleasures often and you can get different surprises and happiness from different small things.
Be sure to buy time, too.
It’s also important to consider how the things you buy will affect how you spend your time. For example, buying that big house in the countryside may seem to be a good idea, but according to The Wall Street Journal, people who spend more time on the way to work are not so happy as those who live near the workplace.
Try giving it away.
Elizabeth Dunn, a professor of a University in Canada, found that in countries such as Canada, South Africa and Uganda, giving away money to the poor made people happier. This was even true when people were giving away even when they themselves were really poor. 48.From the passage we know ________. A.Money sometimes can buy happiness
B.Money can’t buy happiness at all
C.Money is not everything
D.People who earn more money are not happy
49.Ryan Howell thought buying experience was better than buying material goods because ________. A.people preferred travelling to buying things.
B.the memory of the travel experience will stay for a long time C.travelling is cheaper D.people are poor
50.People may feel much happier if they ________. A.don’t give away money B.buy a good house in the countryside C.live near the workplace D.buy what others have 51.The best title of this passage may be “________”.
A.How to spend money B.Ways to earn money
C.Money
D.How can money buy happiness?

Children, on the other hand, want to do things by themselves.
“Doing things ourselves gives us a strong sense of achievement,” said Liu Jiawei, 13, from Jilin. “Eventually (最终) we will leave our parents. So it’s better to develop skills and live independently as early as possible.”
Some, however, think parents have good reasons to help.

A.8,840 B.8,848 C.8,850 D.8,844 45.The underlined word \" extreme \" in paragraph 2 means ________ in Chinese. A.晴朗的
B.极端的
C.刺激性的

C and powerful winds blow all the time. In such extreme conditions, surveying drones (无人机) cannot work at the top of the mountain.”可知,山上的平均气温是-29°
C,强风一直在吹,测量的无人机不能到山顶,山顶的条件是极端恶劣的。所以推测extreme是“极端”的含义,故选B。 46.
细节理解题。根据“Mount Qomolangma formed 38 million years ago as a result of the two plates hitting”可知,珠穆朗玛峰形成于3800万年前,是两个板块碰撞的结果,故选C。 47.

A.Money sometimes can buy happiness B.Money can’t buy happiness at all
C.Money is not everything
D.People who earn more money are not happy
49.Ryan Howell thought buying experience was better than buying material goods because ________.
A.people preferred travelling to buying things.
B.the memory of the travel experience will stay for a long time C.travelling is cheaper D.people are poor
50.People may feel much happier if they ________. A.don’t give away money B.buy a good house in the countryside C.live near the workplace D.buy what others have 51.The best title of this passage may be “________”.
A.How to spend money B.Ways to earn money

The Internet company Tencent is building a car-free ''smart city\offices, apartments, schools, shops, parks and other open spaces. What's more, the plan considers the environment with \"green\" rooftops and systems for reusing wastewater. 阅读下文并回答问题。
Have your parents ever helped you with schoolwork or other projects? Do you think they are giving you too much help?
Du Peng, 18, from Hebei has a story to share. He said that while in middle school, his mother often signed him up for English speaking contests. To help her son win, Du’s mother once asked an English teacher to help write a speech draft (稿子).
“Although I got good results at the contest, I didn’t feel proud,” Du said.
Du is not alone. Nearly 90 percent of Chinese parents said that they have helped their kids too much in school, according to a recent survey of 1,504 parents done by China Youth Daily. Meanwhile, 70 percent of parents agreed that overparenting (过度照顾孩子) could lead to a loss of their children’s independence.
Jiang Qi, 12, is from Beijing. He said that his parents would sometimes help him by making PowerPoint presentations and creating handmade works.
“Our teachers have very high expectations for us,” Jiang said. ________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________ 65. How did Du Peng write his speech draft?
