Thesis statement: Competition is necessary
Competition in job hunting is very fierce nowadays in China. Competition can make college students feel stressful, nervous and poor sights[1]. However, competition is a good way for college students to build healthy life styles and let them clearly known their advantage over others and become more confident. What’s more, to compete with each other can teach college students to respect each other.
A healthy life style cannot happen in a freshman unless he realizes that backwardness leaves you vulnerable to attack. Take the example of a story I heard from a friend. Two freshmen are walking in a forest. All of a sudden, a tiger jumps out of the bushes. All of them are afraid and run ahead. Later, one of them stops and squats down to tie his shoes. His friend asks why. The man says that what he needs to do is to run faster than his friend. Yes, to compete with each other can give college students pressure and let them understand their situation and make a difference. The rational result is to build a healthy lifestyle and meet the competition in front of them.
A Chinese famous author once wrote in a book that your competitor is the one who truly understand you. So he can easily find your disadvantage. Chairman Mao and Chiang Kai-shek can be a good example[2]. Mao truly understood what Chiang Kai-shed thought during the War of Liberation. Mao applied strategy of mobile warfare to fight with Chiang Kai-shed. At last, Mao
won. We can safely say that it is Chiang Kai-shed who cultivated the confidence of Mao.
The more you compete with each other, the better you understand each other. Both of Mao and Chang Kai-shed were very lonely when they were old. In the end of their days, they both confessed that opponent is truly worthy of admiring. When Mao and Chang Kai-shed had a meeting in Chongqing City, Chang Kai-shed found Mao never smoke in front of him. He said to his men that Mao has very strong self-control. And when Mao heard the news that Chang Kai-shed confess Taiwan is one part of China forever, he said to his men that he hope Taiwan is in control of Chang’s family. Both of them respect each other when they competed for 50 years[3].
When we mention to competition, traditional Chinese culture will never think it is right. And we do it out of our heart. But whether you like it or not, competition is necessary for it can compel Chinese college students to live a good lifestyle and become confident. Why competition is a must? It lies in to compete with each other you can truly respect each other and know you are not alone in a struggle of life.
