摘要：An illuminating radiation beam is directed toward a potentially or actuallycarious structure (particularly a tooth). A detector detects acoustic oscillations set up inthe structure resultant from the illuminating radiation and produces an output signaldependent upon the magnitude of the oscillations detected.
